Description
Depicts various views of East River Drive in Fairmount Park including the Pennsylvania Railroad Bridge over the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park, built 1866-1867 by engineers John A. Wilson and Alexander C. Shand. Construction of bridge was one of many factors that enabled the implementation of a direct route from West Philadelphia to New York City. Includes trains travelling east and west over the bridge. Also depicts pedestrian and vehicular traffic on East River Drive near the bridge.
