Description
View of the Episcopal church built 1856-1857 at 711-721 Catharine Street. Church property contains side courtyards enclosed by iron gates. Also show partial views of neighboring buildings and street and pedestrian traffic. Traffic includes a horse-drawn carriage, three men conversing on the sidewalk, a man on horseback, and a man walking, a coat over his arm, who is followed by a dog. Congregation formed in 1837 and admitted to the Episcopal church in 1842. The church was the last consecrated by Bishop Potter in the Philadelphia diocese in 1864. The building was razed in 1885, rebuilt in 1886 after the designs of Furness, Evans & Co., and in 1922 incorporated into the Fleisher Art Memorial.
