Description
Depicts the first battle of ship of the United States with one short engine stack, two gun posts and various flags on the Delaware River on Naval Day. The U.S.S. Texas, built in Norfolk, Va. and commissioned in 1895, was responsible for attacking several Spanish ships in the Battle of Santiago during the Spanish American War. Shows the ship in the naval parade on the Delaware River that opened the Peace Jubilee celebration of the end of the war in 1898. Rowboats float nearby as the crew on the ship disembark.
