Description Full-length portrait of William Penn in a prison cell at the Tower of London. Penn sits with his legs crossed on a bench covered in straw and holds a paper reading, No Cross, No Crown. In the left is a wooden table. The stone cell has two small windows. Penn was imprisoned in the Tower of London in 1668 where he wrote, No Cross, No Crown, which was later published in 1669.
