View showing Southern sympathizers attacking Massachusetts militiamen with rocks, bricks, clubs, and guns. In the foreground, a soldier and citizen lay dead while debris flies from the fighting in the background. The attack of the Sixth Massachusetts Volunteer Militia regiment during their transit to the B&O rail station was the first bloodshed of the Civil War.
