Description |
View looking south from the west bank of the Schuylkill River showing the Fairmount Water Works. Shows the old engine house,
mill house, and stand pipe (built 1852). The waterworks, originally completed between 1812 and 1822 after the designs of Philadelphia
engineer Frederick Graff, were altered and expanded until 1872.

Biographical / historical note |
The Langenheim brothers, William and Frederick, were pioneer photographers and stereograph publishers, who operated a photographic
studio in Philadelphia from the 1840s to 1874 and the death of William.
