Half-length portrait of an unidentified Japanese woman. The woman wears her hair tied up with numerous kanzashi (decorative hair ornaments), which protrude all around her head. She is attired in a patterned kimono, and sits kneeling with her hands on her lap as her eyes look to the left. Behind her is a wooden stool.
