Description Photograph showing a circular shape cut into the rock used as a cider press near the edge of a river next to a dirt path at Bartram's Gardens. The stone circle is surrounded by underbrush and a wooden fence runs across the path in the background. Bartram’s Gardens, founded by American botanist John Bartram, is the oldest surviving botanic garden in North America. Built in 1728, the gardens cover forty-six acres with a focus in North American plants. The Gardens became a Philadelphia city park in 1891.
