Description Includes a prescription sheet used as stationery, a memorandum, and billhead containing type and ornate lettering and pictorial details. Details depict trademarks designed as coats of arms. Trademarks include animal figures, the neck of a flask, and the date of establishment: 1780. Caswell, Maswell & Co., established in 1752 by Dr. William Hunter of Newport, R.I., was assumed by his apprentice Charles Feke in 1780. The business originally an apothecary shop, started to specialize in personal care and hygiene products in the 1780s, and was reorganized as Caswell, Massey & Co. in 1876.
