Full-length portrait of Salmon P. Chase, the abolitionist leader, Ohio Senator, statesman, Lincoln's Secretary of the Treasury,
and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Chase, attired in a white collared shirt, a black bowtie, waistcoat, jacket, pants,
and shoes, sits beside a table that has with an inkwell and papers on top of it.
