Description
Membership certificate for the society "established at Philadelphia for the advice and assistance of English men in distress" containing a view of Dover, England. Depicts men dragging a boat on to the coastline near the white cliffs, Dover castle, and piers. Ships sail on the turbulent waters. Also contains a blue ribbon adorned with the seal of the society. The society also aided the wives, widows, and children of members and sought to "promote social intercourse among members."
