Die-engraver's imprint stamped on lower left corner of case: C. Loekel Phila.
Cased photographs retrospective conversion project.
Pad: Red velvet. Urn in center, fancy scrolls all around.
Mat: Double elliptical. Label on mat: Collins, 3d & Chesnut.
Case: Leather. One rose, buds and leaves in a scalloped border. The design of the case is called Forget Me Not and is plate 174 in American Miniature Case Art by Floyd and Marion Rinhart (Cranbury, New Jersey: A. S. Barnes and Co. Inc., 1969.) Rare. Highly prized by collectors. A token of remembrance. The die-engraver was Charles Loekle, Phila., ca. 1855. Geometric design of interlocking scrolls on verso.
