Description View showing the monorail, also known as the "Safety Elevated Railway," consisting of a steam locomotive and passenger car straddling a beam elevated above the ground. Male passengers stand on the outside of the car while others inside the car poke their heads out of the windows. Designed by General Roy Stone, the monorail transported spectators between Horticultural Hall and Agricultural Hall over Belmont Ravine. The fair celebrated the centennial of the United States through an international exhibition of industry, agriculture, and art.
