Description
Half-length portrait of the aged abolitionist Senator from Ohio, as an older man. Wade, attired in a white collared shirt, a black bowtie, waistcoat, and jacket, faces slightly right. Wade fought for the repeal of the Fugitive Slave Act, was a partisan of the 14th Amendment, and was a supporter of the Freedman's Bureau and numerous civil rights bills.
