Description
Fashion advertisement containing two panelled scenes of 21 elegantly attired men, women, and children in a parlor and outdoor setting. Upper panel shows the parlor scene with 5 men, 2 women, 2 boys and a girl socializing. The men wear suits, with light colored pants, vests, and dark bow ties, and hold hats, canes, and an overcoat. One man wears a jacket with tails. The boys wear military inspired suits, a cape, and cap and hold an overcoat. The girl wears a jacket, skirt, a petticoat and a cap. The women wear dresses with hoop skirts that are adorned with lace and bowties. One also wears a bonnet and jacket and the other wears gloves and holds a handkerchief. Furnishings include a sofa, chair, side table, patterned carpeting, and a fireplace mantle adorned with candelabras. Lower panel shows 9 men, a woman, and a boy in front of a snow-covered riverbank and residence in the background. Most of the men wear overcoats, striped or patterned trousers, and carry canes. All of the men wear top hats and one wears a scarf wrapped around his neck. The boy wears a jacket, trousers, and cap and the woman (part of a couple) is attired in a riding habit. Most of the depicted men have a mustache, sideburns, or both. Key numbered 1-10 and 11-21 printed below the figures.
