Notes Col. John F. Staunton received authority to form a regiment July 24, 1861; the first company of the 67th Pennsylvania Volunteers was mustered in Aug. 28, 1861, but recruiting progress was slow, and the regiment was not completed until the following spring; the regiment was mustered out July 14, 1865; Gill, Laird, and Kite are not identified with this regiment. The illustration, signed L. Johnson & Co., is an eagle on a shield, with the banner: No compromise with traitors, and no argument but the cannon's mouth.
