Description |
Racist, trade card specimen depicting a caricature of an African American man eating honeycomb in a bear’s cave. Shows the
barefooted African American man portrayed with exaggerated features and attired in a red collared shirt with the sleeves rolled
up to his elbows and blue pants with the cuffs rolled up to his knees. He sits on the ground inside a cave and smiles as he
holds a large piece of honeycomb in his hands. In the right are many large pieces of honeycomb. In the background, the back
of a bear is visible climbing out of the cave through an opening above and to the right of the man's head.
